Haiti: Football Empowerment
SHCAB is currently carrying out its most comprehensive youth empowerment program to date. The project is being implemented in the isolated town of Jeremie, Haiti, which is the poorest town in the Caribbean. Jeremie has a Trade High School fully operated by the Haitian NGO Idejen. Idejen takes teens from the most dire circumstances and educates them to the point of literacy and numeracy. Then Idejen provides them with trade specific education and entrepreneurship training to activate the great potential of these youth and stimulate the development of Jeremie. SHCAB has designed a soccer field construction project to implement directly with the youth in the Idejen program. The field will be used for the school and community’s first ever youth soccer league. More so, the students at Idejen have been broken into task specific groups with leadership positions, so that the school and youth can fully own this new space and develop their professional and teamwork skills.
