Argentina: Healthy Homes

In the summer of 2013, SHCAB traveled to Buenos Aires to carry out its first partnership project with an international NGO. The partnership between SHCAB and the organization Un Techo Para Mi Pais was designed to share the resources necessary to enable a full home build for a very deserving family. SHCAB volunteers joined with their peer group of university students from Argentina to head into the underdeveloped community of Los Quinchos. There, the volunteers sweat, laughed, and bonded with the community, while literally building a family their first ever home. SHCAB presented the family with materials and gifts to help educate and promote stronger family wellness. The project also focused on creating an in depth cultural exchange between the community of Los Quinchos and the volunteers of SHCAB. Project Director, Jeff Reppucci, says, “This project was truly service immersion, as the entire time was spent with the family, volunteers, and wonderful children of Los Quinchos. Presenting this family with their first home was an incredibly powerful moment.”
